There are those who believe that the Bacio di Dama represents the union of the lips, being formed by two kneading discs welded together by jam, cream or chocolate.

Baci di Dama was created in the 19th Century. The area of origin is between Liguria and Piedmont. Romantic fables suggest that this biscuit was borne out of the imagination of a pastry chef for the Italian Royal Family upon a request by the King for a new type of biscuit. The King immediately adored these and they start to be distributed throughout Europe

Amaretti Virginia makes these biscuits according to the original recipe with Hazelnuts & dark chocolate, making them deliciously crumbly.
