Garry Crittenden is a 'Legend' of the Mornington Peninsula, planting cool climate grapes, back in 1982, when the region was known mostly for hobby farming wines. Geppetto is unashamedly designed for youthful drinking and is part of his quest to produce premium but affordable wines. We were pretty stoked when trying this recently. A cheeky blend of Victoria locales but mainly from a Mornington Peninsula and a chunk of King Valley. Its very cleverly made by the crew at Crittenden with a slight savoury, herbaceous twist to the crunchy, vibrant fruit. A winner!
A vibrant colour with plenty of red berry fruits and spice on the nose with a little tart cranberry and herbal elements that add some real depth. On the palate there are ripe cherries, pepper and liquorice. It's not light but not heavy. Just sits in a nice middle-ground with plenty of flavour but plenty of interest too for a wine at this price. PWS
