After working for Bonserine and Guigal, Christophe Billon now manages his 4-hectare estate in Rozier, on the heights of Ampuis. The vineyards are an average of 30 years of age but the oldest parcel was planted by Christophe's grandfather back way back in 1942. Christophe has produced some very good wines since ending his role at négociant Guigal in 2007. His wines over the past decade just keep getting better and he is now being recognised as a rising star in the area for his sleek, rich & powerful wines. IMPORTER NOTES
This vineyard sits to the north and west of the infamous village of Ampuis and is mid slope, it borders Cote Brune. The site is steep and rich in mica, iron and schist which translates to very mineral reds. Old vines are used here approximately 45 years old the grapes are destemmed before crushing and sit in French Oak for 26 months elevage pre bottle. PWS
