Pale in colour, iris pallida - also known as sweet iris - is a hardy perennial plant from the Iridaceae family. Native to the Dalmatian coast (Croatia), it grows in thick bunches from a rhizome: its sword-shaped leaves spread out like fans while its delicate, purplish inflorescence billows lightly.

In the Egyptian antiquity, iris is associated to Horus, the falcon God alternately representing the sun and moon. Highly symbolic, its flower brings the sky and the earth together. Later in history, iris becomes the emblem of French Kings, before white lily. First launched by Catherine de Medici, the fashion of iris perfume is embraced by many in the XIXth Century. Today it is perfumery¿s golden asset. Powdery at heart, iris perfume is enveloping, comforting and gently sweet.
