Champagne Jean-Paul Deville tells the story of several generations of Champenois and winemakers, in love with their terroir. Nestled in the slopes of the Montagne de Reims, Verzy has this special combination of climate, soil, subsoil and terrain that makes it an exceptional village ranked Grand Cru 100%. By the 19th century, the Deville family has been known to own vines for at least five generations. However at the time, the elders sell their grapes to big champagne producers rather than making their own bubbly nectar. The art of cultivating vines is then written in the DNA of the grand parents, parents, children and grandchildren, but the desire of making champagne has yet to come. J P DEVILLE

A blend of 75% pinot noir, 20% chardonnay and 5% pinot meunier. Includes 15% reserve wine. 5 years age with 7grams per Litre dosage. Its pale gold colour with very light golden reflections does not betray its age, just like its nose of great liquorice freshness. The complexity of the 2012 vintage is expressed in the nose with yummy notes of marshmallow, peach and apricot, supported by fresh floral notes of honeysuckle and elderflower. On the palate, the attack is clear, tense and the aromatic palette grows as the tasting progresses with a silky mid-palate with notes of hazelnut and dry apricot and a zesty finish, of a remarkable length. WINEMAKER NOTES
