THE CREATION
Eau d'Hermès was the house's very first fragrance. Created in 1951 by perfumer Edmond Roudnitska, it evokes 'the inside of a Hermès bag in which the aroma of a perfume lingers'.
OLFACTORY NOTES
A citrussy, spicy fragrance, Eau d'Hermès is an eau de toilette that combines the radiance of lemon petitgrain with the explosive energy of cardamom and the warmth of cinnamon.
THE OBJECT
The bottle, inspired by the lanterns of horse-drawn carriages, has a black cap reminiscent of a riding hat. The back label is illustrated with a design by Philippe Dumas, indicating that it belongs to the Parfums-Fondateurs collection.
THE PARFUMS-FONDATEURS COLLECTION
The Parfums-Fondateurs collection draws inspiration from the house's heritage. Each THE CREATION encapsulates Hermès' imaginary world in a name, a fragrance and a colour. Over the years, Hermès has pioneered a bold style of perfumery, resulting from encounters with exceptional perfumers.
Created in 1951 by Edmond Roudnitska, Eau d'Hermès explores a citrussy, spicy, floral theme and is the house's original fragrance. It draws inspiration from the idea of a magical, deeply sensory, aroma: "The inside of a Hermès bag where the scent of a perfume lingered...A note of fine leather wrapped in fresh trails of citrus fruit, seasoned with spices," was how the perfumer-composer described it at the time. A historical novel, inspired by the tradition and culture of Hermès, it appeals to both men and women. Powerful, sensual writing.
